Return Label Status

Return Label Status is a specialized view that allows you to monitor the status of return labels generated for DHL eCommerce. This tool is essential for tracking when return labels were created, activated, and delivered.

This view shows only return labels for DHL eCommerce shipping methods EZLITE, EZPLUS, and EZGROUND, and helps you maintain a complete record of each return label’s lifecycle.

Print multiple return labels at once by selecting the ones you need.


Return labels go through three main statuses:

Meaning: The return label was created and is ready to be sent to the customer.

When it occurs: When the system generates a return label for DHL eCommerce with EZLITE, EZPLUS, or EZGROUND methods.

Characteristics:

  • The label is available to download and print
  • The customer hasn’t used the label to ship the package yet
  • The internal system status is return

Meaning: The customer has used the label and the package is in transit back.

When it occurs: When the customer scans or uses the return label and the package is being transported by DHL.

Characteristics:

  • The package is on the way to the warehouse
  • The internal system status is Returning
  • You can track the package using the tracking number

Meaning: The return package was successfully delivered to the warehouse.

When it occurs: When DHL confirms that the package was delivered to the destination.

Characteristics:

  • The package arrived at the warehouse
  • The activation date is shown
  • The internal system status is Returning / Delivered
  • The label price is shown if applicable

  1. Navigate to Returns Module

    From the main menu, look for “Return Orders” or “Returns” and click to access.

  2. Access Return Label Status

    In the Returns view, look for the “Return Label Status” link or navigate directly to /return_label_status.php.

  3. View Main View

    The page displays:

    • Title: “Shipedge: Return Label Status”
    • Search form and filters at the top
    • Table with all active return labels
    • Link to return to Returns view

  1. Use Search Filters

    At the top of the page, you’ll find a form with several filters:

    • Status: Filter by status (Inserted, Ready, Activated)
    • Channel: Filter by sales channel (Amazon, Shopify, Manual, etc.)
    • Shipping Method: Filter by shipping method (EZGROUND, EZLITE, EZPLUS)
    • Between Date: Select a date range using the calendars
  2. Text Search

    Use the search field to search by:

    • Shipping number (Shipping #)
    • Order number (Order #)
    • Reference number (Ref #)
    • Tracking number (Tracking #)
    • Customer name
    • Customer email
  3. Apply Filters

    Click the “Search” button to apply the selected filters.

  4. Clear Filters

    To view all labels again:

    • Click “Reset” to clear the form
    • Or click “Show all” to view all labels without filters
    • Or click “Today” to view only today’s labels

The main table shows the following columns:

  • Process Date: Date when the return label was processed
  • Shipping #: Shipping number (link to complete order)
  • Order #: Customer order number
  • RMA: Associated RMA number (link to RMA details)
  • Ref #: Order reference number
  • Recipient Name: Name of the customer who will receive the label
    • Also shows the customer email
    • Shows the sales channel (Channel)
    • Indicates if it’s a residential address (/ Residential)
  • ShipMethod: Shipping method (EZGROUND, EZLITE, EZPLUS)
  • Tracking #: DHL tracking number
  • Label Status: Current label status with visual icon
    • 🟢 Inserted
    • 🟡 Ready
    • 🔵 Activated
  • Activation Date: Date when the label was activated (only for Activated status)
  • Price: Return label price (if applicable)
  • Label: Link to download the label (only for Inserted and Ready statuses)

  1. Select Individual Labels

    For labels with Inserted or Ready status, you’ll find a checkbox next to the “Label” link in the last column.

  2. Select All Labels

    Check the “Select All” checkbox in the table header to select all visible labels on the current page.

  3. Print Selected Labels

    Click the “Print” button located at the top of the labels column.

  4. View Result

    The system will open a new window or tab with all selected labels combined into a single PDF for printing.


  1. Apply Filters (Optional)

    If you want to export only a subset of data, first apply the desired filters using the search form.

  2. Download CSV

    Click the “Download CSV” link located next to the search buttons.

  3. Open the File

    The system will generate a CSV file named return_labels_[AccountID].csv that will automatically open in your browser or download according to your settings.

  4. Use the Data

    The CSV file contains all columns visible in the table and can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or other analysis tools.


  • Back to Returns View: Returns to the main Returns view
  • Shipping #: Click the shipping number to view complete order details in All Orders View
  • RMA: Click the RMA number to view complete RMA details in Return Orders View

The view shows up to 200 records per page. Use the pagination controls at the bottom to navigate between pages:

  • Previous: Previous page
  • Next: Next page
  • Page numbers: Click directly on a number to go to that page

The view shows only return labels processed in the last 140 days. Older labels don’t appear in this view because they’re no longer monitored by the system.

This view only shows return labels for the following DHL eCommerce methods:

  • EZGROUND: Economical ground service
  • EZLITE: Economical light service
  • EZPLUS: Enhanced service with better tracking

Other shipping methods or carriers don’t appear in this view.

Labels with shipped or void status don’t appear in this view, as they’re not relevant for return monitoring.


Regular Review

Review this view regularly to monitor return label statuses and ensure customers are using them correctly.

Date Filtering

Use the date filter to focus on specific periods and facilitate return trend analysis.

Export for Reports

Download data to CSV periodically to create custom reports and historical return analysis.

Activation Tracking

Monitor labels with “Ready” status to ensure packages arrive at the warehouse as expected.


Possible causes:

  • The label was created more than 140 days ago
  • The shipping method is not EZLITE, EZPLUS, or EZGROUND
  • The carrier is not DHL eCommerce
  • The label has shipped or void status

Solution: Verify that the label meets the display criteria. If it’s a recent label and doesn’t appear, contact technical support.

Possible causes:

  • The label has “Activated” status (already delivered)
  • The label URL is not available

Solution: Only labels with “Inserted” or “Ready” status can be printed. If you need to reprint an activated label, contact support.

Possible causes:

  • Pop-up blocker active
  • Browser permission issues

Solution: Allow pop-ups for this site and verify your browser’s download permissions.
